It's been quite a year for Venezuelan post-Latin rockers La Vida Boheme. First they got some airplay on Sound Travels, then the magic started... celebrated by NPR, their newest album Sera was noted as their "Album of the Year (So Far)," by iTunes as their "Latino Breakthrough Artist of 2011," McDonalds tabbed them for a commercial and the culmination? A Latin Grammy for Best Rock Band.
Faux seriousness aside, things are rolling downhill for this intriguing band that seems to be playing with fire with their anything-goes sound and uncompromising fierceness. I'm okay with that, vanilla's never been a great flavor for me and a rocky road is exactly the sort of sonic challenge I crave.
