...that's because Sound Travels this weekend at the Nomad (1401 E Brady St @ 9pm) is one you don't want to miss! Extra special guests coming in from NYC, Chief Boima returns with that global flavor and he's bringing Geko Jones with him. This is gonna be monster! I don't want y'all to miss this one, world class rhythms at the Nomad World Pub! Plus Steven Watkins just got back from Jamaica and I can't wait to hear what he brought back. Big things!
Both Boima and Geko Jones are on the vanguard of the whole tropical bass movement and are putting out some of the dopest remixes and original global dance tracks on Dutty Artz Records and pleased as punch to welcome them to the Nomad for a lil reunion. Turns out Chief Boima, AKA Boima Tucker has some Milwaukee roots and called the city home before a move to NYC and subsequent mini-star status. Geko Jones is also a personal favorite and released one of my favorite albums of 2013, the dancefloor friendly Geko Jones & Atropolis present: Palenque Records Remixed. It's one of those funny moments when you get to DJ with cats whose cuts you DJ. I'm gonna have to ride some other rhythms when they come to town I guess.
I imagine they'll be playing music in the vein of their latest mini-EP, Suriname Ting. Really looking forward to dj with some cats on the same vibration we're on...
