IndiaFest draws crowd at Humboldt Park

Hundreds of performers and dozens of food vendors were on hand at Bay View's Humboldt Park over the weekend for celebration of Indian culture.

IndiaFest provided a daylong program of events focused on the different cultural assets from each of India's states.

The day began with a parade for children and continued with traditional song, dance and food.

The fest was free and open to the public.

Now in its second year, IndiaFest aims to connect Milwaukeeans -- Indian or not -- to better understand each other and to build relationships, said volunteer organizer Purnima Nath.

Web Extra:  During our interview, I asked Nath where her favorite restaurant is for Indian food.  She recommended Anmol Restaurant, 711 W. Historic Mitchell Street.   Follow this link to check out the menu.
