Art project unites students, encourages diversity

Last month at the 88Nine studios, dozens of young artists from four area high schools displayed their artwork for the first time in public.

It was part of a project called " Know Thyself - Voices of the Young." The students were encouraged to explore a significant life event that shaped their worldview, write a 500-word essay about it, and create a collage in Photoshop representing the impact it made on them.

The project brought together 48 students from Milwaukee High School of the Arts, Reagan IB High School, University School of Milwaukee, and Homestead High School.  It was an urban-suburban intersection, which for many of students was a first time experience.
