Call for Milwaukee Public Art Award Nominations
The Milwaukee County Historical Society invites the public to nominate outstanding public artworks for the 2027 Public Art Award, presented by Janice and Stephen Marcus. Now in its third year, the award recognizes artwork throughout Milwaukee County that enriches the cultural landscape, engages the community, and reflects the character and history of its surroundings.
Nominations are open November 1 through December 31, 2026. Historic and contemporary works, both permanent and temporary, are eligible. Artwork must be located within Milwaukee County and be publicly accessible throughout the award selection period. Artists may nominate their own work, or nominations may be submitted by members of the public.
The 2027 award will be selected by a distinguished panel of jurors: Jeffrey Morin, president of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD); Dr. Kim Sajet, Donna and Donald Baumgartner Director of the Milwaukee Art Museum and former director of the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery; and Julia Taylor, co-owner and gallery director of JK Art House and former president of the Greater Milwaukee Committee.
Help celebrate Milwaukee County's public art and the artists who contribute to our communities. Submit a nomination at milwaukeehistory.net/public-art-award/.
