Join Dr. Amy Shapiro to reflect on the Jewish world of Lithuania and her own experience in that remarkable landscape. In recounting her blossoming relationship to Lithuania, which has been growing for the last 23 years, we invite you to reflect on place-based identity and inheritance.

Dr. Shapiro will recount tracking down the last remaining Jew in her grandparents’ shtetl of Zagare; the trials and triumphs of leading undergraduate students to discover places of the Holocaust; efforts she has made to build a robust academic relationship between Yeshiva University and the University of Vilnius; and finally, her involvement in the Rumsiskes Museum Initiative, an attempt to create an open-air museum that will represent shtetl and market town life.
