HOME 2026: WORLD REFUGEE DAY COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AT LYNDEN
World Refugee Day at Lynden, co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families – Bureau of Refugee Programs, is organized as both a resource fair and a celebration of many cultures. Our theme for 2026 is We Belong/You Belong: Joy and Unity Against the Odds. In addition to making art, tasting food, and listening to stories, poems, and music and dance, visitors will be able to gather information on local services for refugees. Bring a picnic and a blanket to enjoy the outdoors with friends, family, and community or “taste the world” by purchasing food and refreshments from refugee chefs. In the gallery, you will find Warren King: Homecoming, an exhibition of sculptures that explore the artist’s family origins in Shaoxing, China, and their journey to the suburbs of Wisconsin. As King demonstrates, family histories, myth, and memories not only survive migration and cultural transplantation; they persist at the foundations of identity. Warren King’s sophisticated sculptures explore his family’s origins in Shaoxing, China, their journey to the suburbs of Wisconsin.
