Philip Sparke is currently one of the most prolific and respected composers of brass band literature alive today. In this concert, we’d like to honor him and showcase just a few of his 200+ works. Mr Sparke has written many works for Brass Band competitions all over the world and has won several awards. His depth and variety are captivating, and his music always presents a delightful challenge to the players.
Please join us for this Sparke-ling tribute to a world-class composer.
In addition, the band is also proud to feature two selections by our own aspiring arrangers. Band member David Grace has arranged the familiar hymn tune Lobe Den Herren into a lively Intrada for brass band. Band member Jared Staten has arranged the choral piece And What Is It That We Shall Hope For by Robert Cundick into a beautiful setting for brass band.
The concert will also include euphonium player Jared Staten as a soloist performing The Yellow Rose of Texas Variations.
Hope to see you there!
Doors open at 6:30; concert tickets are $15 for general admission, ages 18-64, or $12 for seniors 65+.
