Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month

In honor of Native American Heritage Month at MPM, presented by Potawatomi Casino Hotel, visit MPM's Second Floor exhibits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on our Kohl's Thank You Thursday FREE admission day, Thursday, November 2, to learn about Native American traditions, history and art.

Our Tribal Liaison will be in the Native Games exhibit to share details about the cultural significance of the game of lacrosse and its deep-rooted traditions among tribal nations.

In front of the Bison Hunt exhibit, our Research Curator of Cultural Sciences will be sharing ledger art drawings from Plains Indians from the late 1800s, which documented daily life and events, and serve as a means of Native American heritage, identity, and cultural preservation.

Local artist Jesus Avila will also be at MPM to display and discuss his mural, We the People, All the Nations. This piece of artwork honors the depth and history of Native people across the US.
