The “Small Batch Songwriter Sessions” will feature a different Milwaukee-based singer/songwriter every other Monday evening from 6:30-8:30pm. These shows offer a uniquely intimate listening experience, centering the performers as they test out original material and put their own spin on cherished classics in a stripped solo or duo acoustic format.
The Small Batch Songwriter Series places an emphasis on experimentation. Just as pilot breweries like Indeed-Milwaukee experiment with small batches of creative, out-of-the-box craft beer recipes, this series gives talented local songwriters the opportunity to experiment with new musical ideas in a low-stakes environment.

We first appeared at Bullstock ‘99, El Toro High School. Next we played lunchtime at our rival high school, and we fucking sucked. Eventually, after practicing our instruments and scales and studying music theory, someone gave us some money to record an album. We released The Mechanical Hand in 2005, introducing the beloved characters of Lord Gold and Manateen and many other such things. We assaulted and captivated unsuspecting metalcore audiences, offering up 8-bit Nintendo keyboards, frantic dance parties, and euphoric spasticity into the genre blender. We cultivated a distinctive worldview (“Living at the top when you’re at the fucking bottom”) in our travels circling the globe, performing in 50 different countries in 85 days, on the self-booked Earth Tour. Over time, as individuals we struck out to seek our fortunes in the industries of beer brewing, the custodial arts, high-tech startups, and groceries. Most of us reproduced. Now we are here, with renewed vigor, in the year of the FIRE HORSE, to celebrate our return to the future which is our past which was birthed from the future. We look great for our age.
