Sid Sriram embraces traditional, unconventional in equal measure

I was sitting at my desk when an email came through, asking me to check out this Tiny Desk performance from an artist I hadn't yet heard of. Sid Sriram started singing "Blue Spaces," and I was IN! When I say Def Jam Recordings (yes, the company responsible for megastars like Rihanna, 2 Chainz, DJ Khaled and more) has another gem of an artist in Sid Sriram, trust me.

Sriram — born in India and raised in Fremont, Calif. — was influenced by the music around him and molded by the music within him. Blend the classical sounds of traditional Carnatic music and R&B vibes, throw in a splash of electronic, and you get his amazing new album that dropped today: Sidharth.

I had the distinct pleasure of talking with Sid about his remarkable journey, what's in store for the future, touring and the new project. Listen to the full conversation using the player at the top of the page, and enjoy Sidharth.
