I recently had the privilege of interviewing the incredibly talented Corinne Bailey Rae about her latest musical masterpiece, Black Rainbows. The British singer-songwriter, known for her soulful and captivating voice, has once again delivered a stunning collection of songs that eloquently interpret physical art pieces seen in 2017 during a visit to the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago.
Black Rainbows marks another milestone in Rae's illustrious career, demonstrating her continued growth as an artist, singer and songwriter. Her signature blend of soul, jazz, and pop shines in this album, but there is also a side of her that the audience rarely gets to hear. The songs resonate deeply with listeners while exploring new musical horizons — a testament to her artistic brilliance.
During our chat, Rae shared the story behind what inspired her to make the album and went in depth on two of its tracks: "New York Transit Queen" and "Peach Velvet Sky." Check out our interview using the player at the top of the page, and enjoy Black Rainbows below.
