Fresh off her collaboration with Tyler, The Creator on his latest project, Madison McFerrin is having a breakout year.

Her performance on the track "Don’t You Worry Baby" helped propel DON'T TAP THE GLASS to debut at No. 59 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her first appearance on the chart. Just months earlier, she captivated audiences with a soulful set on NPR’s Tiny Desk, all part of the rollout for her new album, SCORPIO, released June 24.

This Wednesday, Aug. 13, McFerrin will bring her signature blend of vulnerability and groove to Milwaukee’s Summer of Soul, where she’ll headline after hometown favorite Grace Weber. Before she came to town, she opened up about the whirlwind surrounding her recent successes, the car accident that could have derailed her career, and how her deep-rooted family ties continue to shape her artistry.

She also revealed why her songwriting process is such an immersive, soul-searching experience, one that demands both emotional honesty and fearless self-expression. The result is music that resonates far beyond the surface, creating moments of connection that feel both personal and universal.
