Breakfast and ballads are on this week’s loaded live-music menu

Milwaukee’s concert scene has a lot going on, so we look at the shows coming up to find the ones you’ll look back on and be glad you went. Then we add them to our weekly Milwaukee Concert Picks.

Erin Wolf’s pick: Motel Breakfast | The Back Room @ Colectivo | Friday

Chicago-based, Milwaukee-tied indie rockers Motel Breakfast will team up with Cincinnati band Sylmar and Milwaukee’s Fellow Kinsman for a trio of energized sets, with doors open at 6 p.m. And since Motel Breakfast is getting ready to release music in 2023, you’re sure to get some of that shiny, new material.

They put out their latest single —“MB (as in Modern Baseball)” — in August, showcasing the band’s perfectly honed, heart-on-sleeve appeal that Jimmy Drenovsky called: “the first taste of what's to come.” Heading to the Back Room seems like a good way to pass the time while we wait for more new tunes.

Kenny Perez’s pick: DannyLux | The Rave | Sunday

There’s a new wave of young corrido artists that have exploded onto the music scene in recent years, and DannyLux is no exception. This young Mexican singer-songwriter has written amazing ballads for his peers and had major success on the Billboard Latin charts via “ Jugaste Y Sufi,” his collaboration with friend Eslabon Armado.

On Sunday, the Palm Springs native will roll in from Cali to support his latest project, Limerencia, and get his fans in the mood to feel some love and shed some tears.
