Stream GGOOLLDD's thundering new single, 'Welcome To My House'

Milwaukee's show-stopping synth-pop outfit GGOOLLDD is kicking off the new year with a new album. "Here We Are" will be out Feb. 14 -- yes, Valentine's Day, although the band insists that date is entirely coincidental. "I hate Valentine's Day," singer Margaret Butler tells us.

Ahead of that release date -- and the band's local release show March 27 at Turner Hall Ballroom -- we're excited to premiere the latest single from the album. It's a big one: "Welcome To My House" has everything you could want from a GGOOLLDD track: drunken revelry, fraught hookups, a lingering threat of danger and, oh yeah, synths -- huge ones. For all the bands attempting to tap into '80s nostalgia, few capture the glamour and the thunder of Duran Duran-era pop quite like GGOOLLDD. We can't wait to hear the whole record.

Band member Nick Schubert shares a few more details about the record. "We demoed the album in Margaret's dad's backyard in his back house in Baton Rouge, LA (we call it the poolhouse even though there's actually no pool), then went to Clearfield, PA to our friend Fred Weaver's studio Apocalypse the Apocalypse with our boy Malachi DeLorenzo (from Langhorn Slim) who produced and mixed the record," he writes.
