Radio Milwaukee is celebrating International Women's Day

Radio Milwaukee is celebrating International Women's Day on Monday, March 8 by turning its airwaves over to powerful women's voices.

From 6 a.m. to midnight, the station will present a playlist of women's music spanning more than 80 years, with special programming including a 9 p.m. Milwaukee music set from Dori Zori presented with Riverwest FemFest, a midday all-female request show, and a 6 p.m. member request hour.

Plus from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., we'll be joined by a dozen special guests, including Milwaukee musicians B~Free, Betty Strigens, Ava Gessner, Johanna Rose, Amanda Huff, Ms. Lotus Fankh, Erin Wolf and more. They'll share personal stories of the music and artists they love.

At 6 p.m. on our Facebook page, we'll also be streaming #PortraitsOfFemme: Women in Music, a covers tribute concert led by B~Free and presented by Riverwest FemFest. It will feature 10 women and femme-identifying artists performing a wide array of covers and stories about songs by women who have inspired them.

Performers include Amanda Huff, Caley Conway, Donna Re’nee, Holly Haebig Wake, Johanna Rose and Katie Lyne, Kendraplex, Kyndal J., Nikki Morgan and Trinity Grace.
