How many female artists are you listening to?

female artists

We know that representation of women in the music industry today is far from equal. In 2017, 100 percent of the top streamed tracks on Spotify were performed by men artists. We’re missing out on so many good tunes by women. So, today, on International Women's Day, we invite you to check yourself and your music library. We'll do the same.
So, how many female artists are you listening to? There's a new Spotify tool you can use to find out. The "Equalizer," sponsored by Smirnoff, analyzes your Spotify listening habits to provide you with a breakdown of the percent of men versus women you've listened to in the previous six months. Give it a try here.

We linked 88Nine's Spotify up to the Equalizer. It's only fair we share our results too:

If your playlist needs a bit of balancing, here are six tracks from some strong ladies you should add to your library:

Jamila Woods ft. Noname - "VRY BLK"

Courtney Barnett - "Nameless, Faceless"

Soccer Mommy - "Cool"

Janelle Monáe – "Django Jane"

SZA - "Prom"

Abby Jeanne - "Be In The Sun"
