Absofacto brought their surrealist sound to the stage for a Studio Milwaukee session on Monday. The Michigan natives took a special road trip to play for us at 88Nine after wrapping up their first tour.
Listen below to the session and interview with Jonathan Visger, who talks about going from making music in his bedroom to collabing.
You've heard Absofacto on Radio Milwaukee since 2014, when we started spinning "Done with Love," before they signed with Atlantic Records. They kicked of their studio session with this beloved track bringing a dreamy, electric vibe to the studio.
Absofacto is the solo project of songwriter/producer Jonathan Visger. They just completed their first tour, performing songs from the new EP, "Thousand Peaces." While we've known about them for some time, Visger tells us how impressed he was to see a handful of people in the crowd signing his lyrics in each of the 17 cities he visited on tour.
He describes Absofacto's music as electronic, alternative and experimental, but to the point. Visger tells us he developed his style making a lot of music in his bedroom; but, right now, he's excited to be doing a lot of collaborations after working by himself for so long. Calling it one of his favorite things he's ever made, he is close to releasing a project with Costa Rican artist MishCatt. Recently, in 2017, he was also featured on a song by The Knocks called "TROUBLE."
Visger brought Micheal Higgins (drums) and Katie Lee (bass and backup vocals) to the studio on Monday to complete Absofacto. They drifted through a funky and hypnotic performance of "Dissolve." Then, they treated us to a song that is still unreleased.
