Summerfest will require Covid-19 vaccinations or negative tests to enter this year

Summerfest will require a Covid-19 vaccination or a recent negative Covid-19 test in order to attend the festival this year. The festival made the announcement this morning, saying it had the support of the City of Milwaukee Health Department.

The announcement comes as many venues and touring artists around the country have started rapidly adopting similar policies amid spiking Covid-19 rates and continued spread of the delta variant.

The policy will be enforced at the gate. "An original vaccination card, a printed copy of a valid vaccination card, or negative test will be accepted," Summerfest detailed in a press release. "Documentation may also be presented in digital form, such as a screen shot or photo, on a phone. For any vaccine documentation in reprinted form (printed copy, phone screenshot, etc.), the entire front of the vaccination card must be visible, or it will not be accepted."

"For patrons who are not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours (3 days) of attending the festival," the policy continues. "To avoid any entry delay please obtain a test before coming to the concert. Local testing information is available here:"

That protocol will also be enforced at this week's Little Big Town and BoDeans concert at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Friday.

Summerfest is recommending that guests wear masks in indoor spaces, and will require children under 12 to wear a mask.
