If you can only go to Summerfest one day this year, make it this one

Each Thursday morning on Radio Milwaukee we -- the Journal Sentinel's Piet Levy and 88Nine's Jordan Lee -- talk about the music coming into and the music coming out of Milwaukee on  Tap'd In

Today we're previewing Summerfest, especially the day that might be the most loaded of the festival's entire 11-day run: Thursday, June 27. Stream the episode below.

If you can only make one day of Summerfest this year, Thursday, June 27, might be the day to go. It's Throwback Thursday, so big acts will be playing afternoon sets. Steve Earle, Foghat, Andrew W.K., Paul Oakenfold and 10,000 Maniacs will all play at 4 p.m. It's also a great day for local music. Zed Kenzo plays at 5:30, and Crystal Knives plays at 8 p.m. Milwaukee legends R&B Cadets will play at 6 p.m. That day also features St. Paul & The Broken Bones, and one of the hottest acts of the whole festival: Lizzo. That should be a packed show.

On top of that, the American Family Insurance Amphitheater is literally holding a festival instead the festival: The Outlaw Music Festival will feature Willie Nelson, Phil Lesh, Avett Brothers, Alison Krause, Dawes and Trapper Schoepp.

We also talk about some of the upgrades to the Summerfest grounds, including an overdue face lift for the long-neglected Uline Warehouse stage, and a much higher roof for the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, which should enable the venue to host much bigger productions.
