Mardis Gras is right around the corner, and on this week's episode, it's a mini mix of New Orleans Bounce (NOLA Bounce).
Bounce is a a electronic sub-genre dominated by dance call-outs and active dances. These chants and call-outs are typically sung over the "Triggerman beat" which is sampled from the songs “Brown Beat" by Cameron Paul, Derek B's "Rock The Beat” and "Drag Rap" by the Showboys.”
This American sub-genre flourished in New Orleans without much national recognition, but in the second half of the 1990s, No Limit Records and Cash Money Records gave America some of the NOLA sound. Those artists, while based in Bounce music, did not put the genre on the map… the internet did.
We are going to give you a taste test of some of the sounds of NOLA BOUNCE, TRAP and TWERK on this episode.
We celebrate Mardis Gras here at the Radio Milwaukee Studios this Tuesday.
Music and dancing with the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Samba Unit, Extra Crispy Brass Band and New Orleans DJ Lil Man, spinning music like you heard on this episode of XFADER.
