Every Saturday night on 88Nine we explore the new sounds of electronic and computer-based dance music. This week's episode is all about Drum and Bass. We feature the music of Fred Vahrman and Josh Jackson aka Fred V and Grafix.
I discovered these guys in an appearance on BBC Radio 1Xtra. They have been working together for the past five years and showing huge promise. Influenced by an eclectic range of sounds outside of D+B, from electro/French house, ambient and hip hop.
Fred V & Grafix cite artists such as Flying Lotus, Bonobo, Dilla and Jimi Hendrix as key inspirations. This is not your daddy’s Drum and Bass.
This episode features a few remixes from Subwave, Loko and Logistics, plus a new track from fellow UK DnB Dj Keeno, and some reinterpretations of new artists like Alex Clare and this cool remix of Emeli Sande’s track Daddy.
