Field of Flags at Veterans Park

A breathtaking display that’s as moving as it is beautiful, each year, this event places 27,316 flags in Veterans Park — one for each Wisconsinite killed in action from the Civil War through the present. These flags will be placed, leaving a lasting impression on park visitors and passersby. The weekend-long display kicks off with a ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday.
War Memorial Beer Garden Grand Opening
750 N Lincoln Memorial Dr. | Milwaukee

Admission: FREE
The lakefront beer garden is having its grand opening Thursday and will be open through Memorial Day. Enjoy an unobstructed view of the water while enjoying drinks, loaded brats and stuffed pretzels. Tables are first-come-first-served, or you can bring your own chairs and blankets to sit on the lawn. Dogs are welcome!

The Gift of Wings Family Kite Festival, presented by IKEA, returns to Veterans Park this Saturday and Sunday. The highlight of each day is the Grand Launch at noon, when 600+ kites take to the sky in a breathtaking display over Lake Michigan.
Storyland: New Exhibit at Betty Brinn Children’s Museum

The museum’s new temporary exhibit opens this Saturday as beloved children’s books come alive in Storyland: A Trip Through Childhood Favorite. Step into the pages of seven stories as you journey through life-sized scenes and interactive play experiences designed to develop early literacy skills and open a lifelong love of reading.
Exploration Dinosaur at the Zoo

The Milwaukee County Zoo’s 2025 summer exhibit, Exploration Dinosaur, is now open! Guests of all ages can unearth the past and explore prehistoric bones, teeth and more from mighty dinosaurs like the T. Rex and Triceratops. Walk among more than 20 full-size and scientifically accurate animatronic displays, plus four activity stations.
For further connection, plan to attend special Roar & Explore days — every Wednesday from Memorial Day through Labor Day, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. — featuring expanded content with unique, hands-on activities that connect prehistoric life with modern-day animal care.
