Summerfest starts Thursday, and “The World’s Largest Music Festival” isn’t just for grownups — there’s a whole world of fun just for kids and families, especially at the Northwestern Mutual Community Park. Here are a few kid-friendly options:
- The Lil Gig: A dedicated children’s festival within Summerfest, featuring local music and performance acts like magicians, puppeteers, dance troupes, and comedy.
- Kids Boogie Down Dance Party: A nightly dance party to wrap up the day with music, movement, and fun.
- Huge Playground & Green Space: Let kids run, climb, and explore in a safe and shaded space right on the lakefront.
- Elizabeth “Bo” Black Family Fountain: A splash pad near the main entrance — perfect for cooling off on hot summer days.
Don’t forget that Children’s Fest Day is Friday, June 20, when all patrons who arrive between the hours of noon and 3 p.m. get in free.

Juneteenth Day

Milwaukee’s Juneteenth Day celebration is one of the oldest in the nation, and it’s packed with family fun, community pride and powerful cultural significance.
The Jubilee Parade features colorful floats, marching bands and dance teams bringing the streets to life in an uplifting celebration of freedom, love and resilience. The Kids Zone at Martin Luther King Elementary School Playground is designed for kids ages 5–12 and features carnival rides, a petting zoo, pony rides and more in a safe, welcoming space. The day ends with an evening celebration at the Summerfest grounds.
Lolo Blvd Custom Car & Bike Show

Sunday, June 22 | 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Stroll through an impressive display of lowriders, bikes and jaw-dropping custom creations. From sleek designs to one-of-a-kind builds, this event is a feast for the eyes and a celebration of creativity in a display of automotive artistry and positive community vibes.
Family Generations Expo
Oak Creek Community Center | 8580 S. Howell Ave. | Oak Creek
Saturday, June 21 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The kid-friendly highlight of this free, fun-filled day at the Oak Creek Community Center is an Indoor Family Fun Park, where the kids can play a variety of games, including Retro Pac Man, Magna Tiles, Dance Mats, Rock’ Em Sock’ Em Robots and Foosball Frenzy. There will also be a photo booth, an expo hall, prize giveaways and more.
Lake Country Clean Water Festival
Lakefront Park | 222 W. Wisconsin Ave. | Pewaukee
Saturday, June 21 | 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Since 2011, this festival has focused on raising awareness for the increasing need to preserve Lake Country’s waterways and raising money for cleanup efforts so we can all enjoy the fun and beauty the lakes bring to our community. The festival has also provided opportunities for water skiing lessons, pontoon boat rides, an education tent and workshops on the beach, paddle sports and more.

Outdoor Movie Night at Davidson Park

Friday, June 20 | Movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
Head to Davidson Park for a free community outdoor sing-along screening of Encanto. Arrive early to grab a cozy spot in the Hub, enjoy free popcorn and connect with neighbors. For extra comfort, bring chairs, blankets and/or pillows.
