Every morning throughout Summerfest 2025, we’ll deliver a guide that covers the day’s entertainment and how you can get in the gate free of charge. This is where you’ll find info about the AmFam Amp headliners, eclectic picks from our knowledgeable staff and the music lineup for the day (see the full 2025 Summerfest lineup here).

Today at the AmFam Amp

Megan Thee Stallion, Flo Milli, 7:30 p.m.

The Amp’s headliners on this second Saturday of the festival shouldn’t need much of an introduction to anyone paying even half attention to the music world — or social media, for that matter. Megan Thee Stallion is a three-time Grammy winner with three Billboard number ones: “Savage,” “WAP” and most recently “Hiss.” That last track appeared on her album, Megan, which came out last June.

MTS puts her energy into more than just music, though. She’s popped up on screen in everything from the 2024 remake of Mean Girls to the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Then there’s her philanthropic work, which includes heading up the Pete and Thomas Foundation, a nonprofit that aids women, children, senior citizens and underserved communities in her native Houston and around the world.

Like her amphitheater colleague, Flo Milli dropped an album in 2024, putting out Fine Ho, Stay in March. The pair also made some noise together last year when they shared the video for “Roc Steady,” a track from Megan: Act II that features Flo Milli, and when they both appeared on Latto’s “Sunday Service.”

Radio Milwaukee staff pick #1

Smallpools @ UScellular Connection Stage, 8:15 p.m.

If you’ve ever screamed along to “Dreaming” with your windows down, this one’s for you. Smallpools are celebrating 10 years of catchy, joy-fueled indie rock (yes, I’ve been listening since high school ... don’t do the math), and the 10th Anniversary Tour is basically one big excuse to dance, sing and smile with strangers. From the band name to the bounce in every track, Smallpools is pure serotonin, which feels like a necessary supplement these days.

Radio Milwaukee staff pick #2: The Fray

The Fray @ Uline Warehouse Stage, 9:30 p.m.

There’s something so compelling about nostalgia, and The Fray delivers those feelings with a hopeful twist. With a collection of hits from the late 2000s and early 2010s, The Fray utilizes a soft-rock sound and striking storytelling to evoke a connection between artist and audience that feels deeply personal and vastly unifying. For me, listening to The Fray feels like laying out in a downpour and letting my worries wash away with the rain.

Last year’s EP, The Fray Is Back, brings the classic “The Fray” experience to a new generation. It builds on the tone of their past releases, with the same reminiscent storytelling, a reinvigoration of hope and a message of encouragement to keep moving forward. The fourth track, “Time Well Wasted,” encapsulates The Fray’s music perfectly: a bittersweet retrospective on lost love and the sentiment that the connection was worth the pain of going separate ways.

Radio Milwaukee staff pick #3

Young The Giant @ UScellular Connection Stage, 10 p.m.

If you're in the mood for an indie juggernaut that combines South Asian folk elements with modern American pop, then Young the Giant (and their recent album, American Bollywood) is for you. Their music is foundational in modern indie, with their breakout hit “Cough Syrup” dominating the late 2000s. But they’re more than just another major indie band. Young The Giant channels the first-generation perspective of America, a place of supposed endless opportunity, balanced with a healthy dose of emotional critique.

— Jonathan Joseph
