Every morning throughout Summerfest 2025, we’ll deliver a guide that covers the day’s entertainment and how you can get in the gate free of charge. This is where you’ll find info about the AmFam Amp headliners, eclectic picks from our knowledgeable staff and the music lineup for the day (see the full 2025 Summerfest lineup here).

Today at the AmFam Amp + Radio Milwaukee staff pick #1

The Lumineers, Hippo Campus, 7:30 p.m.

Headliners The Lumineers couldn’t have picked a better special guest to join their Amp performance: Midwest natives Hippo Campus!

I’ve been listening to the St. Paul-based group since their Warm Glow EP that was released back in 2017, and it’ll be incredible to see/hear all of their classics along with the live version of their most recent release, Flood. The 2024 album demonstrates their newfound maturity not only as a band, but as people entering their 30s.

Guitarist Nathan Stocker and lead vocalist Jake Luppen highlighted Summerfest as their favorite show of 2024 (as noted by Diane Miller from Minnesota Public Radio), so you can bet another great time is waiting tonight.

As for The Lumineers themselves, tonight's headliners are celebrating their 20th anniversary and a new album that shows they're not afraid to mix things up two decades in. Even the cover art for 2025's Automatic stands in vivid contrast to their previous releases, showing off a brightly colored television test card. The tracks back up those visuals by reflecting modern issues that resonate across just about every audience. I can't wait to see how they'll bring all of that to the stage tonight.

Radio Milwaukee staff picks #2 & #3

The Warning @ Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, 10 p.m.
BABYMETAL @ Uline Warehouse, 9:30 p.m.

If you’re heading to Summerfest tonight, don’t miss the chance to see two of the most electrifying female-led rock bands out there: The Warning and Babymetal. I’m fired up to see them each bring their own fierce energy to Milwaukee.

When The Warning hits the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard, you can expect nothing less than an intense set of pure rockin' vibes. These sisters are the real deal: raw, passionate and tight as hell in a live setting. Just before that, Babymetal take over the Uline Warehouse to deliver their signature mix of heavy metal and J-Pop sound. Both shows will be part-concert, part-spectacle and 100% unforgettable.
