U.S. Olympic Team Long-Track Trials

The four-day event will see top speed skaters from across the United States compete in the 500m, 1000m, 1500m, 3000m (women) and 5000m (men), as well as the Mass Start. Included in that group of exceptional athletes is Milwaukee native Jordan Stolz, current world record holder in the 1000m and 6x world champion. Also in attendance will be 500m Olympic champion Erin Jackson; 1000m and Team Pursuit Olympic bronze medalist Brittany Bowe; and Team Pursuit bronze medalists Mia Manganello, Emery Lehman, Ethan Cepuran and Casey Dawson are all expected to compete.

Guided New Year’s Night Hike
Schlitz Audubon Nature Center

Celebrate the New Year with a guided night hike under the stars. The remnants of Saturday’s Full Wolf Moon will illuminate the path as you explore different habitats in search of nocturnal wildlife. Bring your flashlight and experience the tranquility of the nature center’s trails at night. This program is designed for all ages, children and adults alike. Children must be accompanied by an adult; each child and adult require a ticket. This program will take place entirely outdoors.
Owl Prowl for Families
Wehr Nature Center
Jan. 3 | 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Join a naturalist for an evening with the owls at Wehr. An interactive program (recommended for ages 6 and older) will highlight the amazing adaptations of our nocturnal neighbors. Come prepared to walk in search of great-horned and Eastern screech owls. Each child will even get the chance to dissect an owl pellet so they can discover what owls eat for dinner!
Little Nature Museum
Hawthorn Glen Nature Center
Jan. 3-4 | 11 a.m.-noon and 3-4 p.m.
Come and visit the Little Nature Museum to see animals native to Wisconsin, including tree frogs, several species of turtles, snakes, many birds and even a hawk. Attendance is FREE!

Aspen Sky Winery Distillery & Event Center | Slinger
Jan. 2-4 | 3-10 p.m.
Tired of being cooped up? Get out of the house and enjoy a summertime pastime in the warmth of the great indoors. The event center is being converted to an 18-hole mini-golf course perfect for players of all ages (just make sure kids are supervised at all times). Reservations are available, but walk-ins are welcome.
