Despite the abnormally warm October weather and open roof American Family Field, playoff baseball does indeed begin Tuesday for the hometown Milwaukee Brewers against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
To up the stakes for those who couldn't snag tickets to any of the (potentially) three home games, Broken Bat Brewing Co. is prepared to booze up fans enough so they can be heard from Walker's Point all the way to the stadium in Story Hill.
Our neighbors at the city's preeminent baseball-centric brewery are offering up $12 pitchers for every beer on tap from first pitch until the final out. That includes everything from the 4.5% ABV "Fungo" American lager to the 8% ABV "The Ripper" hazy double IPA — and the many varieties and ABVs in between.
As added rooting incentive, the brewery is borrowing a viral idea from fellow Milwaukee drinking establishment Jack's American Pub: If the Brewers throw a shutout in any game during the opening Wild Card series, Broken Bat will cover the entire tab for everyone at the bar. The rules stipulate that tabs must be opened by 6:15 p.m.
The best two-out-of-three series will be played Tuesday through Thursday, all in Milwaukee (Thursday's game will only be played if necessary). All three games are scheduled to start at 6:08 p.m.
