There's only so far ahead we can look with any certainty when it comes to new album releases, but the year is already shaping up to be a big one for returns:
- Brittany Howard's new solo album arrives in February
- Grandaddy is back after a seven-year break with Blu Wav, also out next month
- Mary Timony, known for her work in the bands Helium and Wild Flag (among others), will release an album under her own name, something she hasn't done in 17 years
On this week's show, host Robin Hilton sits with NPR Music editors Hazel Cills and Sheldon Pearce to talk about these and other albums they're excited about this year, including Sleater-Kinney's Little Rope, The Smile's Wall of Eyes, Hurray For The Riff Raff's The Past Is Still Alive and more.
We also dream about some rumored releases: Will we get a new Joanna Newsom album this year, or one from My Bloody Valentine? Will Chance The Rapper return to form on a much-teased, but still uncertain new LP?
