Every Friday, 88Nine music director Erin Wolf and Lilliput Records co-owner Tanner Musgrove tell you about the new albums you can’t miss on a new episode of On Vinyl. Check out their top picks and a list of this week’s other releases, and listen to their full conversation using the player on this page or on the 88Nine airwaves at 1 p.m. every Friday.
This Friday’s bunch of releases leans into dreams, as we start with indie rocker Hannah Jadagu floating between reality and longing on her new album.
Then it’s over to Ireland’s Just Mustard and NYC’s Blonde Redhead, who incorporate otherworldly sonics like sweet vocals and quirky arrangements to suspend the imagination. Finally, Sharp Pins’ “Kinks meets Guided By Voices” appeal feels like it was created for non-reality with its pairing of playful visual elements and a penchant for vocal and guitar effects on the music side of things.
Whatever you choose, you’ll be taken away simply by setting wax to turntable and needle to groove. And when the weather turns cold, there’s no better journey than the one where you can cozy up among your own stacks of wax. Happy New Music Friday!

Hannah Jadagu, Describe
Dreamy indie rocker Hannah Jadagu’s latest collection of songs centers on themes of distance and growing pains, and the result is more beautiful than sad. She’s great at tugging on heartstrings in her writing as she explores the tension between wanting connection and craving space, building an overall mood that juxtaposes intimate and epic. To further amp up the emotion, Jadagu added more three-dimensional sonic elements — like analogue synths and drum machines — for a super warm sound.
For those looking for it on wax, the first 50 fans who order from the Sub Pop mega mart will receive a special signed copy of the “Loser Edition,” which is a lovely shade of pink.
Just Mustard, WE WERE JUST HERE
Experimental Irish rock quintet Just Mustard create a really amazing dynamic sound because they manage to be both loud and intimate. The latter, more sweet side comes in part from lead singer Katie Ball’s unique voice that cuts through the noise.
Just Mustard has spent some of 2025 opening up for Irish peers Fontaines D.C. and getting attention outside of their home country as a result. It’s no small wonder; the walls of noise they create translate really well to live shows. Keeping to those rock traditions, the vinyl version of their new album is available on classic black vinyl.
Blonde Redhead, The Shadow of the Guest
Released digitally in late June, Blonde Redhead now offer the vinyl version of their latest EP that’s filled with both old and new material. The Shadow of the Guest revisits many songs from their critically acclaimed 2023 album, Sit Down for Dinner. But going back to that material doesn’t mean it’s a snooze.
The NYC-based art-rock band have a knack for making old stuff sound completely new by adding some entrancing oomph — in this case with a contribution from the Brooklyn Youth Chorus on the first half of the album. The three new tracks we’re given on this EP are also denoted as “ASMR,” with the instrumentals arranged to give that sensory satisfaction people love. Those particular songs have a very calming and relaxed ambiance, perfect for dipping out into another realm if you need that sort of thing.
The Shadow of the Guest is limited to 2,500 hand-numbered copies available on standard black vinyl.
Sharp Pins, Turtle Rock
Chicago project Sharp Pins’ debut album is back in the racks again. We personally can’t get enough of this band and are really big fans of anything Kai Slater has a hand in, including his post-punk band Lifeguard. The sound of Sharp Pins revolves around jangle rock and garage rock, a la the Kinks and Guided By Voices. So if you like either of those artists, Sharp Pins will be up your alley.
Turtle Rock is available on basic black vinyl, and if you like what you hear, Sharp Pins’s upcoming album Balloon Balloon Balloon is due out Nov. 21.
