As a non-profit, 88Nine is grateful for the support from our Members as well as businesses in our community.
This month, we want to shine a light on our partner SafeHouse, a Milwaukee icon since 1966!
Hi, what’s your name and job title?
Agent Change AKA: Nick Dillon, Station Chief, SafeHouse
What’s one song you can’t stop listening to?
“Danger! High Voltage” from Electric Six
What are you most passionate in regards to what is happening in our community and what is SafeHouse, Marcus Hotels, restaurants, etc. doing for the community?
SafeHouse is now owned by Marcus Hotels and Resorts. Marcus has a long history of supporting the local community through the Marcus Foundation. From supporting Arts and Culture through the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, and our continued support of local performing and arts groups including UPAF (United Performing Arts Fund) and First Stage Milwaukee Children’s Theater, we also support initiatives in Job Creation and Economic Impact, Education, Health, Conservation & History and Community Development and Social Needs. Our overall goal is to strengthen the local economy and support the communities in which we live and work. It’s a great feeling to be a part of a company that cares so much.
How did your business get started and what is in store for 2018?
SafeHouse is a Milwaukee icon that has been around since 1966. We always look forward to the summer months when Milwaukee is bursting with activity and the city swells with tourists. The surprise and delight we are able to offer locals and visitors never gets old and everyone ALWAYS remembers their very first visit… the moment you first became a SPY! Prior to 8PM, we are a family friendly destination with a magician and lots of fun activities for the whole family. After 8PM, we are 21+ and if you are looking for a good time, don’t miss our Shagadelic Dance Party on Fridays + Saturdays starting at 10PM!
Why do you choose to support 88Nine?
We, as agents of Milwaukee and personally as an agent of change, I believe in the station’s mission of creating a more inclusive and engaged Milwaukee. 88Nine, although not as old as the SafeHouse, is just as iconic in their Mission!
