Every week on Urban Spelunking, Radio Milwaukee’s Nate Imig and OnMilwaukee’s Bobby Tanzilo dig into the buildings and architectural features that help retain the city’s sense of history while it builds for the future.
The Wisconsin Center's $456 million expansion is well underway and on pace to open in the spring of 2024. This week on the podcast, we visit the construction site to check in on the progress.
The new building — on a former surface parking lot — is quickly taking shape alongside the existing convention center, with Gilbane and CD Smith managing the construction. The expanded convention center will boast a new window-encased ballroom, 24 additional meetings rooms, plus indoor parking and increased support space for workers.
Join us for a tour of the construction site led by Project Director Dane Jensen and Wisconsin Center Vice President of Marketing and Communications Sarah Maio. Then be sure to visit OnMilwaukee for even more photos and info from Bobby, and watch for new episodes of Urban Spelunking every Thursday from OnMilwaukee and Radio Milwaukee.
