Every Saturday night, In the Mix sets the vibe as DJ Kenny Perez mixes up the hottest sounds from the electronic dance music scene, bringing to the forefront some of Milwaukee's most talented DJs and producers.
Spring is slowly creeping up on us here in Milwaukee. Even the gigantic snowstorm currently enveloping Wisconsin is an indicator, because don’t we always get one of these right before the weather turns for the better?
Whether you’ve got snow or sun, this episode of In the Mix is the soundtrack you need. We welcomed BRITs Breakthrough-nominated artist Barry Can’t Swim, who rolled through with a continuous mix from the newly curated Late Night Tales compilation. The release celebrates the series’ 25th anniversary and its first mix of curated vibes in over five years, blending house classics, leftfield grooves and atmospheric selections.
Barry’s set showed exactly why he’s become one of the most exciting musicians in electronic music. The Edinburgh producer — whose albums When Will We Land? and Loner helped push his soulful, piano driven sound onto the global stage — stitched together selections from Lance DeSardi and Daniel Avery to deeper cuts like This Mortal Coil and Magic Spirit Quartet. He also slipped in unreleased material, including “Sometimes I Feel So Alone” and the new single “Chala (My Soul Is On A Loop).”
