Every Saturday night, In the Mix sets the vibe as DJ Kenny Perez mixes up the hottest sounds from the electronic dance music scene, bringing to the forefront some of Milwaukee's most talented DJs and producers.
With more than three decades in dance music, Latroit (aka Dennis White) has helped shape the sound of the genre. The Grammy winner’s impact started during his early days as music director for Kevin Saunderson's legendary Inner City and eventually led to him producing and remixing for legendary artists like Depeche Mode, Madonna, Nile Rodgers, and Swedish House Mafia.
His latest project, Classics, Vol. 1, celebrates the cultural legacy of house music through live instrumentation and an incredible cast of international collaborators, including legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter, the Soweto Gospel Choir and U.K. vocalist Nick Clow. The album reimagines house classics like "Beautiful People," "Brighter Days" and "Finally" to connect generations of dance music through jazz, gospel and soul.
Latroit brought that spirit to this episode by delivering a set that moved among familiar favorites, new discoveries and music from his new album. We also featured the latest offering from Destiny Leigh, who competed on The Voice back in 2022 and now pairs soulful vocals with a dancefloor edge. The timing couldn’t have been better, with Leigh making a cameo during the Milwaukee Brewers World Series run when she sang the National Anthem in her hometown of San Diego during the National League Division Series.
