The Wisconsin Center will become a Covid-19 vaccination site this week. The City of Milwaukee Health Department could begin administering vaccines from the convention center as early as tomorrow, according to Mayor Tom Barrett, who gave the media a tour of the site this afternoon.
The vaccination center will not be open to the public at first. The health department will begin by administering the vaccine to frontline workers, city health workers and EMS staff from the Milwaukee Fire Department. After that, the city will move on to vaccinating police and teachers and adults 75 and older, Milwaukee Health Department commissioner Marlaina Jackson told WISN.
Earlier today Barrett revealed that the city will be receiving 800 doses of the vaccine this week, a number that hopefully pales in comparison to future weeks. The next order will be for 3,000 vaccines, he said this afternoon.
