Go backstage at the Riverside Theater

Three historic Milwaukee venues.  Three weeks on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee.

For the second stop in our mini-series, we "spelunk" the Riverside Theater with OnMilwaukee's Bobby Tanzilo and Pabst Theater Group PR Director Andy Nelson.  Last week, we visited the Pabst Theater. Our series concludes next week with Turner Hall.

Built in 1928, The Riverside opened as a vaudeville venue. It eventually transitioned to show movies as one of the area's main "movie palaces."

A few decades later it began hosting musical performances from more well-known artists, including Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash and many others.

Click the podcast player above to hear Nelson and Tanzilo tell the rest of the Riverside's story. Read the complete article at OnMilwaukee.com with additional photos.
