What's next for Milwaukee's flag?

Have you been keeping up with the initiative to reimagine Milwaukee's flag?  Keep reading to learn what's coming up next.

The votes are in!

More than 7,000 people took the online survey, which ended on May 31, to rate each of the five finalist designs in the ongoing initiative to reimagine the flag of Milwaukee.

And now we wait.

The feedback has been submitted to Greater Together People's Flag of Milwaukee -- the organization running the campaign -- and according to Artistic Lead Steve Kodis, that data will be presented to the Milwaukee City Council.

After that, though, it's in the hands of city government.

"It'll be a majority vote to adopt the new flag.  And then the city ordinance that is in place currently will have to be rewritten," Kodis said.

So what can you do to advance the process?

Simply, Kodis said, contact your alderperson.

"It lets the city government know that people care about this, and that we believe we deserve to have a beautiful symbol that represents not only our city and our past, but the people themselves and the city we aspire to be."

You can find contact information for your alderperson by visiting the City of Milwaukee's website.

And stay tuned to see the design that got the most votes unveiled at 88Nine's Walker's Point studios on June 14.  Details to come!
