Another Milwaukee museum is temporarily closing to the public. Harley-Davidson Museum announced that beginning today its campus will be closed until at least Jan. 3, 2021.
"After assessing the City of Milwaukee Order 4.2 and the ongoing Covid-19 situation, the H-D Museum has made this decision in an effort to help keep guests and staff safe," the museum said in a statement. "The H-D Museum team will closely monitor the situation to determine a reopening date in 2021."
The announcement follows the temporary closings of two other major Milwaukee museums, the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Milwaukee Pubic Museum, earlier this week, and amid pleas from Gov. Tony Evers for residents to stay at home if they are able.

Earlier this month, Evers issued an advisory asking residents to stay at home for Thanksgiving, advice that is now being echoed by the Centers for Disease Control as the United States hit a record 183,000 new daily cases.

“We’re alarmed,” the agency's Covid-19 incident manager Dr. Henry Walker said at a press conference. “What we’re concerned about is not only the actual mode of travel — whether it’s an airplane or bus or car, but also the transportation hubs.”
Crowded airports and bus and train depots make social distancing difficult, he said. The organization also stressed that older family members are most at risk of death if they contract the virus.
