HOW SPONSORSHIP WORKS
OUR SUPPORTERS GET RESULTS
As part of our mission, 88Nine reaches a new generation of radio listeners with an entertaining and adventurous selection of music and public affairs programming. We champion Milwaukee – our music, arts and culture, neighborhoods and community organizations; celebrate diversity, and encourage community engagement – while promoting global identity for Milwaukee.
And our listeners share our passion.
Example: our members. A record 4,500 members contributed to 88Nine in 2015. The average donor is 41 and gives $172. It’s an impressive group — 70% volunteer in the community, 53% participate in charity events, 30% serve on a non-profit or community board and 21% mentor or tutor.
88Nine’s listeners and members aren’t just tuning in. They’re engaging in the community, donating money and time to make Milwaukee better.
88Nine is a nonprofit radio station focused on music discovery. We were one of the first stations in the country to play Alabama Shakes. We’ve also uncovered local artists like GGOOLLDD and national acts like Mumford & Sons, Leon Bridges and Chance the Rapper.
We think of our home as a “town square.” A place to bring diverse audiences together — to enjoy live music and engage in thoughtful conversation.
We host intimate performances by local and touring musicians, cultural celebrations and provocative discussions on important community issues. Business Supporters who sponsor these events make a lasting impression on these audiences.
Other Studio:Milwaukee sessions
We’ve hosted such artists as David Gray, Glass Animals, The New Pornographers, Paolo Nutini, Rhiannon Giddens, Matisyahu and Jack Garratt. We broadcast these sessions live. These artists also performed at 88Nine:
Special Events at 88Nine
Business Supporters are able to sponsor Radio Milwaukee’s special events. We bring together diverse audiences for a variety of events: honoring Milwaukee musicians, an annual fall party on our rooftop, a creative mashup of music and food, and more.
Listeners experience Community Stories 12 times a day, programmed right into the music mix. Community Stories are designed to be around the length of a pop song. They highlight organizations, individuals and businesses making an impact in Milwaukee. These stories encourage our listeners to get involved and be part of creating a better Milwaukee. After the stories air, we post them on our website, resulting in more than 150,000 page views. In 2016, we started producing select Video Community Stories.
Here’s a sample of our stories.
