88Nine RadioMilwaukee returns to Austin for huge interactive, film and music festival known as SXSW. This is our second year, and Adam, Ben and myself will be covering the whole festival and conference. We will talk to everyone from CEO's of startups to bands and artists to other Milwaukeeans visiting Austin. This year is the 25th anniversary of the festival and it is the biggest.
So far, we have talked to the co-founder of a site and app called Foodspotting, which is service that allows one to share their favorite dishes. We went to an abandon power plant for a party that featured producer/dj Diplo and the amazing Eclectic Method. We ate some amazing Korean BBQ tacos and burritos at a Street Food fest organized by Foodspotting.Then we met young hip hop crew of kids who not only had style, but flow including a very young and cute girl.
This week we will be hanging out at the 2nd annual Milwaukee Beer & Brat Fest, which was organized by crew of creative techies to bring a little bit of Milwaukee to Austin. Last year over 500 people munched on brats and drank some tasty PBRs. This year they expect close to a 1,000 folks to attend this year's event.
Later this week, the music portion kicks off and 88Nine will be covering various shows and artists including several Milwaukee artists and bands such as Codebreaker, Maritime, Jayme Dawicki, Jaill and others. There will be over 2,000 bands performing in Austin and we will bring just a taste of some of those acts.
