Two of the most exciting and amazing artists that I saw perform in Austin at SXSW performed in a church. One of the artists I really I wanted to see was James Blake. The other that completely took me by surprise was tUnE-yArds, which is the alias of musician Merril Garbus. Her performance was one of the most mind-blowing thing I have seen from any musician in a very long time. Garbus' music kind of reminds me of an upbeat Morphine with hints of Afro-beat, but really that can't really explain her sound until you hear her music for yourself or better yet, see her live!
Lucky for you, I can help you out on the former. tUnE-yArDs second album "WHOKILLS" is due out on April 19 on 4AD records, but you can listen to entire album via NPR Music right now. Also check out her fun video for her first single "Bizness."

Here is her performing the same song live down at SXSW. Now if someone would bring her to Milwaukee for a show.
