Back in September 2010, I featured a band on "Don't Sleep On" by the name of GIVERS out of Lafayette, Louisiana. Then a fews day later we featured their song "Up Up Up" on New Music Wednesday. I also mentioned that you will hear from this band in future. Well, it is the future.
The five piece band who blends electronic, african, pop and a dash of cajun & zydeco into a sonic gumbo were recently signed to Glassnote Records back in February. The label is the home to such artists as Mumford & Sons, Two Door Cinema Club, The Temper Trap, Phoenix, and more.
GIVERS will recently announced that June 7 will be the released date for their debut album "In Light." The album was mixed by Ben Allen (The Constellations, Cee-Lo, Animal Collective) as well as Chris Coady (Beach House, Grizzly Bear). GIVER are going on tour and will be performing at Schubas in Chicago on June 24.
