As you know we're in the middle of the Neighborhood Project. Lisa has been doing a great job with our stories about the businesses, organizations and people that make up our very diverse communities. One of the things I've wanted to do since arriving at 88 Nine was to try a video piece for one of our stories. I also wanted to reflect an offbeat irreverent attitude, one I can identify with, and one that can feature offbeat and irreverent places. If there's one thing I enjoy about Milwaukee, it would be it's embracing of several things unusual. Let's see how it develops.
That said: Bay View is home to one of Milwaukee's oldest bars, Kneisler's White House. I drove down to S. KK and Estes St. to have a few drinks and talk to the locals about a unique watering hole.
