MCW's Youth Violence Prevention Initiative Part 2/Safe Streets, Healthy Kids Week 8
Last week you learned about the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Youth Violence Prevention Initiative and how the Holton Youth & Family Center plays a key role in keeping Milwaukee’s youth safe, healthy and strong.
"A youth leadership Council has been created to help youth develop their natural leadership skills so they can help their peers to lead healthy lives. Youth leaders will be empowered to be catalysts in preventing violence. The VPI strives to promote community recognition of positive youth actions. In addition, the VPI will foster youth community service opportunities and an increase in educational and employment opportunities."
Now it’s time to hear from some of the youth behind the initiative. Click the podcast below to hear from active members of the VPI, including Aqwon Collins from HYFC, Anthony McFerrin, UNCOM – Journey House, and Rosa Caporal, UNCOM - Journey House.
