Peep this! Experimental Maryland indie-rockers Animal Collective has a new album called Centipede Hz set to hit streets September 4th on Domino Records. For many of y'all out there, that date can't come soon enough. I hear it all the time, "...why don't you guys play Animal Collective? They're my favorite band...." I have also fielded dozens of your requests for 'em on the request show so I know there's love out there.
Even though the album isn't out yet, the cats have been kind enough to let us stream it for free on their web-site. Far from being insipid, each trackis wed to a tricked out visual by Abby Portner (sister of band member David Portner bka Avey Tare). For the uninitiated, let me say that the experience is a trip; at times embrionically claustrophobic, others cacaphonically distant and others yet, witness to holy lights and revelatory soundscapes. What else would you expect from one of the most original groups on the indie scene?
