A Lil Kizomba with that Semba, Modern Angola

Putting the wraps on a week of Angolan musics here on Sound Travels. For most of the week, it's been a vintage affair for much of the journey, so today, I wanted to share some more modern examples. Both Rei Helder and Yuri da Cunha are excellent starting points for you if you want to hear the genre's biggest names these days.

But there are other options, like the new album by Portuguese A/V collective Batida who dig through the vaults to find semba samples to work their electro-dance wizardry. Their self-titled debut is currently in my top-10 for the year and I don't see that changing. The cut I played to end the set featured semba living legend Carlos Lamartine. If you missed the set, here it is again...
