Milwaukee Native and 88Nine Board Member Named President Of Elektra Records

Milwaukee native Jeff Castelaz has been named President of Elektra Records. A few weeks ago Castelaz stepped down from Dangerbird Records, the label he co-founded in 2003.

Castelaz played a huge role in the Milwaukee music scene back in the day as the manager of The Promise Ring, Wild Kingdon and Citizen King. He was also a former DJ at WMSE. At Dangerbird, he signed artists like Silversun Pickups, and Fitz and The Tantrums.  He also started Cast Management back in 1992, where he manages acts like Dropkick Murphys. He also serves as a board member of 88Nine RadioMilwaukee.

Castelaz aslo founded the  Pablove Foundation with his wife, Jo Ann Thrailkill. The foundation's mission is to fund pediatric cancer research and advances in treatment, educate and empower cancer families, and improve the quality of life for children living with cancer through hospital play, music and arts programs.

Elektra Records, which now Castelaz is president, is a label within the Atlantic Records Group. The artist roster at Elektra includes Ed Sheeran, Cee-Lo Green, Justice, and Charlotte Gainsbourg to name a few.

"I'm honored to step into the pilot's seat of this incredible label," said CASTELAZ. "I couldn't be more excited to uphold ELEKTRA's legacy of long term development of vital artists -- a principle that has been the touchstone of my entire career. I look forward to suiting up as the newest member of the crack Artist Development squad known as ATLANTIC RECORDS GROUP. CRAIG and JULIE have given a kid from MILWAUKEE the opportunity of a lifetime -- to shine the ELEKTRA spotlight forward to another generation of music fans."

We want to congratulate Jeff Castelaz on his new postion, and wish him the best as Elektra Records' new President.
