It is the year of band reunions from Dinosaur Jr. to Ben Folds Five. There is even rumors of a Smiths reunion, which all of them turned out to be untrue. It looks like another band is getting back together (sort of), well at least for one release. The Replacements Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson are reuniting for a covers EP. The 4-song covers EP is to help fund former Replacements' guitarist Slim Dunlap medical bills after his stroke.
The EP will include covers of Dunlap's "Busted Up," "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from the Broadway musical Gypsy, Gordon Lightfoot's 1965 song "I'm Not Sayin'", and "Lost Highway" by Hank Williams.
You can read more about the EP over at Rolling Stone's website.
In other Replacements related news, the documentary, Color Me Obsessed, will be released on DVD on November 20. Directed by Gordon Bechard, the documentary runs about two hours and it is full of performances from the band and interviews from musicians, journalists, and fans. You can pre-order the DVD here.
