Ska!

Sound Travels has been in Jamaica all week with some fine tunes from some earlier days. Mento and blue beat have already been on the menu and we followed their evolution into what ultimately became known as ska today.

Lots of kids these days honed their ears on 2 tone or third wave ska sounds while globally speaking, ska mutations abound, particularly in Spanish-speaking countries. Nevertheless it's always great to get back to the root and today I played some more originators and authentic creators in the mix. If you missed the music hear it is...

Tommy McCook & Dom Drummond "(Music Is) My Occupation"

Justin Hinds & The Dominoes "Carry Go Bring Come"

Bob Marley & The Wailers "Simmer Down"

The Skatalites "Don-De-Lion"

Roland Alphonso "Christine Keeler"

Byron Lee "Frankenstein"

Tommy McCook, Richard Ace & The Skatalites "Shockers Rock"
