All week on Sound Travels we've been exploring the new sounds out of South Africa, and heard the unique take on house music on the scene in cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and Durban. For me, it's very intriguing how a very niche sound here in the US has come to be such a hit, running the music charts in South Africa.
Creative artists and DJ's like DJ Qness, Oskido, Maphorisa n' Clap, DJ Tira and DJ Cleo are all in focus in today's set. This Sunday's Sound Travels will also showcase the South African house music, but I'll be putting the songs in a proper DJ mix that I hope will start somebody's dance party. After the mixtape, we'll take Sound Travels down to the Nomad; funk hip hop, latin grooves and much much more with special guest DJ's DJ DMT & Avets joining me for a jam session.
